The Emissions Reduction Fund project map is an interactive map of Australia which showcases
Emissions Reduction Fund
data published on the
project register.
The map is designed in a way that encourages users to explore the data, as well as provide ease
of navigation to specific
information that may be of interest.
The
Emissions Reduction Fund is a voluntary
scheme that aims to provide incentives for a range of organisations and
individuals to adopt new practices and technologies to reduce their emissions.
Map features
Pie charts
The landing page of the map displays pie charts for each of the states and territories in
Australia. The size of each
pie chart represents the number of Emissions Reduction Fund projects registered in each state
and territory, and corresponds
with the ‘Number of projects’ legend in the lower left corner of the screen. The coloured
segments in each pie chart
represent the percentage breakdown of
methods used in each state or territory, and
correspond with the methods legend in the lower right corner of the
screen.
When the cursor is hovered (or pressed on tablet and mobile) over each pie chart it will reveal
the data used to calculate
the pie chart information for that state or territory, and in addition, the total quantity of
Australian carbon
credit units issued to date for each method.
Clicking on a pie chart will present a new view which shows the postcode location (shown as pins)
for all projects in
that state or territory.
Pins
Pins are used throughout the map to show project postcode location, what method is used and
whether a project operates
under a contract with the government. Each pin represents an active individual project.
Information about projects
which operate nationally, in more than one state, or have been supressed or revoked is available
in the top right corner
of the screen, on the pie and pin landing pages under ‘National totals’. The pins correspond to
the legends on the
lower right of the screen.
Pins do not represent the exact location of an individual project, and instead map the postcode
centroid location—which
is the recognised geographical centre of a postcode. Where there is more than one project
located in a postcode, a
cluster pin will be displayed. The number inside the cluster pin indicates how many projects
operate within that postcode.
There are also a limited number of individual projects which operate across more than one
postcode, within a state
or territory. This will be shown as multiple individual pins with the same project name.
On click, a pin will reveal the geographic area registered for that postcode, and a list of
projects registered for
that postcode will appear. The list of projects provides basic information including project
name, project ID, and
project description, with the option to view more detailed information by clicking the ‘view
project page’ button.
Filter by method
Using the ‘Filter by method’ tool, project data can be sorted by method family.
Note: when you filter by method, some projects may not be shown if they are national or
multi-state projects.
Filter by state or territory
Using the ‘Filter by state or territory’ tool, project data can be sorted by state or territory.
Filter by contracted
Using the ‘Filter by contracted’ tool, project data can be sorted by projects which are
registered to operate under
a
contract
with the government (‘Contracted’), or projects which are registered to receive ACCUs but do not
have
a contract with the government (‘Non-contracted’).
Postcode search
Australian postcodes can be entered into the postcode search tool to search a particular area for
registered projects.
Data source and calculations
The data displayed on the Emissions Reduction Fund project map is sourced from the
Emissions Reduction Fund project
register.
Project information displayed on the map could change at any time, and projects are occasionally
varied or revoked by
the Clean Energy Regulator, in accordance with applicable legislation. For example, if the Clean
Energy Regulator discovers
that the information given by a person in connection with an eligible project was false or
misleading.
Data displayed throughout the Emissions Reduction Fund project map relies on information supplied
by scheme participants
in their project application, and may vary. The Clean Energy Regulator has not independently
verified data provided
by scheme participants for accuracy, correctness or completeness.
ACCUs issued
Data displayed under ‘ACCUs issued’ throughout the map represents the total Australian carbon
credit units (ACCUs) issued
to a project to date—including projects with and without a government contract. Each ACCU issued
equals one tonne of
carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2-e) stored or avoided by a project.
‘ACCUs issued’ does not represent the quantity of abatement committed under a government
contract, or quantity of ACCUs
sold to the Commonwealth under a government contract.
For more information about Emissions Reduction Fund projects which operate under a government
contract, see the
Emissions
Reduction Fund contract register.
