Once large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) have been successfully created and registered through the REC Registry, they may be bought and sold by traders and businesses through the open LGC market.
While most large-scale generation certificates are purchased by Renewable Energy Target liable entities to fulfil their surrender obligations under the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000, anyone with an appropriate REC Registry account may trade in LGCs.
Before buying and selling large-scale generation certificates please note:
See the step-by-step guide to buying LGCs, guide to selling LGCs and guide to withdrawing LGCs.
