The Clean Energy Regulator (the agency) calls for applications from manufacturers to update their models listed on the
register of solar water heaters on a regular basis. As part of this process, the agency also assesses applications for new hot water systems to be listed on the register.
Each application round is announced through the agency website, and individuals who have
subscribed to receive emails about the register are also advised via email.
Submitting an application
You can complete the application to include or modify models in the Register of solar water heaters (CER-RET-010) using the
Client Portal. All audit files must be prepared correctly at the time the application is made.

Assessment by the Clean Energy Regulator
During the assessment process, the agency checks all models listed in the applications against the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2712:2007 licensing schedule. Models that are not correctly listed in the submission will not be accepted. For more information see
solar water heater accreditation.
The agency also audits selected models to ensure their small-scale technology certificate entitlements are calculated correctly. During the audit process, the agency may request supporting information from applicants such as test reports and TRNSYS files. Models that have not had their small-scale technology certificate entitlements calculated correctly will not be listed on the register.
Finalising and publishing the register
Before the register of hot water systems is published, applicants are provided with a final opportunity to review each model to make sure they are listed correctly.
Once the register is published to the agency website small-scale technology certificates may be created for newly approved and listed models.
