Using a registered agent

10 July 2019
RET

Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, retailers, traders and installers of small-scale renewable energy systems can apply to the Clean Energy Regulator to become registered agents.

Registered agents may assist you to:

  • calculate the financial benefit you may be eligible for
  • provide you with an upfront financial benefit in exchange for the systems' certificates, and
  • coordinate the purchase and installation of your system.
The Clean Energy Regulator does not set the certificate price used by agents, nor does it get involved in disputes between owners and agents. Payment for certificates, or the right to create certificates, is a contractual matter between you and your agent.

If you choose to assign the right to create the small-scale technology certificates for your system to a registered agent you may have the option to receive an upfront financial benefit from the installer, such as a discount off the invoice, in exchange for the right to create the systems' certificates.
