Changes made to the Emissions and Energy Reporting System (EERS) for the 2017–18 reporting year include:
- Updates to reflect legislative amendments that apply to 2017–18:
- amended scope 2 emissions factors
- Creation of a separate Validation tab that will allow a user to view, acknowledge and respond to validation messages. Validation messages from last year have been retained and no new validations have been created for 2017–18. Help text in EERS and guidance on the Clean Energy Regulator’s website will provide information on how to use the new Validation tab.
- Data Entry tab will now be read-only in the EERS workspace after report submission
- The format of NGER reporting reminder emails have changed. You will now receive a brief email advising that an NGER message is available in the Notifications tab of you Client Portal account.
- Creation of a ‘Measurement Sub-criterion’ field underneath the ‘Measurement Criterion’ field when ‘AAA’ selected. This will clarify the specific type of measurement criterion AAA employed. The ‘Measurement Sub-criterion’ field will contain 3 options:
- AAA – commercial transaction – point of consumption
- AAA – commercial transaction – point of sale
- AAA – Non-commercial transaction – point of consumption
- Energy consumption can now be reported in addition to emissions from flaring in one activity item for the following sources:
- Decommissioned underground mines
- Open cut mines
- Underground mines
- Solid waste disposal on land
- Wastewater handling (domestic or commercial)
- Wastewater handling (industrial)
- Specific fuel types can now be selected when reporting energy consumption in addition to emissions from flaring in the one activity item, for the following flaring sources:
- Oil or gas exploration
- Crude oil production
- Crude oil refining
- Natural gas production or processing - flaring
- Resolution of some minor bugs.
