In September and October 2021, the Clean Energy Regulator held webinars and question and answer sessions to assist reporters to submit their emissions and energy reports under sections 19, 22G and 22X of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (NGER Act). No face-to-face workshops were held due to COVID-19.
Overview of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting scheme
This webinar provided a basic overview of the NGER legislative framework and reporting obligations for 2020–21. This webinar was aimed at those new to NGER reporting or existing users who wanted a refresher.
Topics included:
- reporting requirements including what must be reported and reporting thresholds
- corporate structures for NGER reporting including identifying the controlling corporation and group members
- facility types
- operational control.

What’s new in NGER and technical guidance
This webinar guided reporters to where they could find information to help them prepare their NGER data and outlined changes that impacted all reporters for 2020-21. The final part of this webinar was targeted to users from the Oil and Gas sectors and provided more in-depth technical guidance and advice for this group of reporters.

- Where to find general information on your obligations, registration, and reporting
- Where to find calculators including the reporting threshold calculator, the calculators for estimating emissions from different waste sources and the uncertainty calculator
- Where to find NGER and EERS training videos
- What's new for all reporters
- Guidance and useful technical advice on reporting new matters affecting the Oil and Gas industries.
