Australian Securities and Investments Commission

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) regulates registered companies, financial markets, and providers of financial services and credit services. The ASIC licenses and monitors businesses that provide financial services regarding regulated emissions units to ensure that they operate efficiently, honestly and fairly. ASIC is also responsible for supervising market participants and operators of financial markets and clearing and settlement facilities.

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) operate under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 to:

  • inform and educate businesses about their responsibilities under the Act when making price claims, including providing guidance
  • raise awareness amongst consumers about their rights under the Act, and
  • investigate and, where appropriate, take action against businesses who engage in practices that contravene the Act.

Australian Financial Markets Association

The Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) is an industry association that promotes efficiency, integrity and professionalism in Australia's financial markets. The AFMA's role is to provide a forum for industry leadership and to advance the interests of all market participants. The AFMA works to provide industry standard contracts for carbon and renewable energy markets that may help participants to get started.

Australian Energy Market Operator

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is the National Energy Market Operator and planner. The AEMO supports the energy industry to deliver an integrated, secure, and cost effective national energy supply. The AEMO also maintains critical energy services and sets new directions in energy sector planning and provides data on the National Electricity Market.
