The Guarantee of Origin (GO) scheme will have a mechanism to certify renewable electricity, called the Renewable Electricity Guarantee of Origin (REGO).

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is leading the policy development for REGO. Find out more on the department's website.

About REGO

The proposed REGO certificate mechanism will be voluntary. It will build on the large-scale generation certificate (LGC) framework under the Renewable Energy Target (RET).

REGO will retain the basic design of the LGC and introduce features to make it more fit-for-purpose now and into the future. It proposes to expand the eligibility for certifying renewable electricity to:

  • energy storage systems
  • below-baseline generation.
