The acceleration in renewables investment
The 2018 Renewable Energy Target report, The acceleration in renewables investment, covers the operations of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 (the Act) for the 2018 calendar year.
The report has been prepared in accordance with Section 105 of the Act and was tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, 24 July 2019.
The report provides information about the Clean Energy Regulator's administration of the Act and how the Renewable Energy Target is performing against its legislated objectives, which are:
- to encourage additional generation of electricity from renewable sources
- to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases in the electricity sector
- to ensure generation of electricity from ecologically sustainable renewable energy sources.
It also includes the Renewable Energy Target 2018 Annual statement and supporting information about progress towards meeting the revised 2020 Large-scale Renewable Energy Target.
