September Large-scale Renewable Energy Target market data now available

The Clean Energy Regulator has released September 2018 Large-scale Renewable Energy Target market data.

September highlights

  • 34 power stations were accredited with a combined capacity of 667 megawatts. This is the largest amount of solar and wind capacity accredited in a single month since April 2001.
  • More large-scale renewable energy capacity has been accredited so far this year than in any previous year since 2001. With 2799 megawatts now accredited, this overtakes the previous record of 1088 megawatts in 2017.
  • Five utility-scale projects account for 658 megawatts of September’s accredited capacity:
    • Coleambally Solar Farm – NSW – 189 megawatts
    • Daydream Solar Farm – QLD – 181 megawatts
    • Bungala Two Solar Farm – QLD – 138 megawatts
    • Emerald Solar Park – QLD – 90 megawatts, and
    • Hayman Solar Farm – QLD – 60 megawatts.
  • Limondale Sun Farm in NSW reached financial close. Once constructed and accredited this 300 megawatt solar farm will be the largest in Australia.
  • The Victorian Government Renewable Energy Auction Scheme results were announced. Six projects with a combined capacity of 886 megawatts signed power purchase agreements through this process.
