January Large-scale Renewable Energy Target data now available

19 February 2018

The Clean Energy Regulator has released January 2018 Large-Scale Renewable Energy Target market data.

Following a record level of investment in renewable energy in 2017, January 2018 has continued with strong momentum.

January highlights

  • Four projects with a combined capacity of 435 megawatts (MW) reached financial close in January. Another 338 MW have signed Power Purchase Agreements or received partial financing. There is now a total of 7318 MW of firmly announced projects.
  • There were 16 projects accredited in January with a cumulative capacity of 68 MW. This is the highest number of power stations accredited in January since the start of the scheme, more than doubling the seven power stations accredited in January last year.
  • The largest power station accredited in January was Griffith Solar Farm in NSW with a capacity of 35 MW. Griffith Solar Farm will generate approximately 76 000 MWh of renewable electricity annually. This is enough to power approximately 11 500 Australian homes and, in terms of greenhouse gas reduction, is the same as taking 20 000 cars off the road or planting 100 000 trees!
