New Large-scale Renewable Energy Target market data now available

28 June 2017

The May 2017 Large-scale Renewable Energy Target market data release saw a surge in off-take agreements. Origin Energy will purchase the energy generated by the Victorian Stockyard Hill Wind Farm when the power station is operational. Once constructed, the probable project will be the largest wind farm in Australia with 530 MW capacity, generating enough electricity to power more than 350,000 households.

Other highlights from this month’s data release include:

  • A total of eight utility scale renewable energy power stations were fully financed during the month of May representing 368 MW in total new capacity.
  • It was a huge month for off-take agreements with over 630 MW capacity of new deals signed.
  • Telstra has signed a significant off-take agreement with the Emerald Solar Farm in North Queensland, a 70 MW project.
  • Nearly two-thirds of the new renewable energy projects required to deliver the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target are now firmly announced.

Every month we publish an update of market data for the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target. We are committed to providing relevant and timely Renewable Energy Target information and data to increase transparency and provide the market with access to up-to-date information.
