Workshop: 2017 Emissions and Energy Reporting System

In September 2017, the Clean Energy Regulator will hold training workshops to assist reporters to submit their emissions and energy reports under section 19, 22G and 22X of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (NGER Act). The EERS training workshops will be held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

The workshops will cover a range of topics, including the reporting requirements for 2016–17, and how to report through EERS.

Who should attend?

The training workshops are open to anyone who has a responsibility to enter data into EERS on behalf of an organisation, and submit a report under the NGER Act. The workshops will cover the process of preparing your NGER reports, from logging in and navigating your EERS workspace, to entering data, generating and submitting reports and managing users for your organisation's EERS workspace. The workshops will also provide information on the legislative requirements and context for each of the steps of preparing reports.

Each workshop is limited to 20 participants, as these sessions will be held in computer laboratories, which will allow representatives from the Clean Energy Regulator to take participants through the reporting process step-by-step.

Workshop: 2017 Safeguard mechanism

To assist responsible emitters in preparing for the first compliance period under the safeguard mechanism, the Clean Energy Regulator will host workshops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in August 2017.

These sessions will focus on compliance options to meet obligations under the safeguard mechanism, including applying for a calculated baseline, a multi-year monitoring period, or an emissions intensity variation. The sessions will also provide an overview of how the Clean Energy Regulator will use National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting reports to determine who is covered by the safeguard mechanism in 2016–17, and calculate each responsible emitter's net emissions number.

A demonstration will also show how the Client Portal can be used to access information about which facilities are covered by the safeguard mechanism, and what their baselines and net emissions numbers are.

Who should attend?

The safeguard workshops are open to representatives of responsible emitters, their advisors, consultants, auditors and law firms.
