Small-scale systems installed across Australia

This map shows the total number of small-scale renewable energy systems installed under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme in each state and territory, and the total kilowatt rated output for September 2015, and the national cumulative totals since 2001.

Map shows the total number of small-scale renewable energy systems installed under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme in each state and territory, and the total kilowatt rated output for August 2015, and the national cumulative totals since 2001 as listed below. 

*Given the 12-month period for creating small-scale technology certificates, the number of certificates for monthly installations will continue to rise. The data which informs this month’s update is accurate as at 8 October 2015. For up to date figures, please refer to the postcode data for small-scale installations.

  • Queensland continues to have the highest overall level of small-scale installations in Australia with 1 901 systems installed this month. This is almost twice as many systems installed compared with other states and territories.
  • New South Wales had the largest system installed for September at 99kW.
  • Installation rates for September are currently tracking lower than August, with 5 790 small-scale installations so far this month compared to 7 835 last month.

Each table below shows the breakdown of system types installed in each state and territory for September 2015, and the running total since the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme commenced in 2001.

  • Gungahlin (postcode area 2913) is the top performing postcode in the Australian Capital Territory in September, with five new installations.
  • The inner-north suburbs (postcode area 2602) also had three new installations this month.
  • The Australian Capital Territory has installed 21 small-scale systems in September, which is less than August, but may increase with the 12 month creation rule.

  • Bathurst (postcode area 2795) and Parkes (postcode area 2870) came in as the top postcodes in NSW in September, with 16 new installations each.
  • Batemans Bay (postcode area 2536) also has a high quantity in September with 14 new installations. One of the systems installed in Batemans Bay was 32kW.
  • New South Wales had the second highest level of small-scale installations across Australia in September, representing 20 per cent of the total installed capacity Australia-wide this month.

  • Palmerston (postcode area 0832) was the top performing postcode in the Northern Territory in September, with eight new systems installed.
  • Litchfield (postcode area 0810) had six new systems installed in September, including one system with a 65.5kW capacity.
  • The Northern Territory had 43 small-scale installations in September, representing one per cent of installations across Australia.

  • Queensland had 1 901 small scale systems installed in September, making it the largest quantity of installations across the country. This represents 33 per cent of the total installed capacity Australia-wide this month.

  • 875 small-scale systems were installed in Victoria this month, bringing the total number of systems installed in Victoria since 2001 to 481 500.
  • Victoria had the third highest number of installations across the country in September.
