Small-scale systems installed across Australia

This map shows the total number of small-scale renewable energy systems installed under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme in each state and territory, and the total kilowatt rated output for November 2017 and the national cumulative totals since 2001.

*Given the 12-month period for creating small-scale technology certificates, the number of certificates for monthly installations will continue to rise. The data which informs this month’s update is accurate as at 30 November 2017. For up to date figures, please refer to the postcode data for small-scale installations.

National trends and analysis

  • There were 7944 small-scale systems installed nationally in November, with a total capacity of 43 664 kW.
  • Installation rates for November are currently tracking higher than October, with 7944 installed compared to 7412 last month.
  • Queensland continues to have the highest level of small-scale installations across Australia with 2511 systems installed so far in November.
  • Queensland had the highest number of commercial sized solar PV systems (10-100kW) installed in November, with 178 systems installed.
  • There were 535 commercial sized solar PV systems (10 – 100kW) installed Australia-wide in November.
  • There were 164 solar PV systems that had a concurrent battery storage installation in November.

  • The Australian Capital Territory installed 74 small-scale systems in November, which is higher than last month.
  • Solar water heaters represent 19 per cent of the small-scale installations in the Australian Capital Territory in November.
  • The Australian Capital Territory had four commercial sized solar PV systems (10 – 100kW) installed in November.
  • Kambah (postcode area 2902) was the top performing suburb in the Australian Capital Territory in November with six new installations.
  • There were six solar PV systems that had a concurrent battery storage installation in the Australian Capital Territory in November.
  • New South Wales had the second highest level of small-scale installations across Australia in November, representing 22 per cent of the total number of installations Australia-wide this month.

  • Queensland had the highest level of small-scale installations across Australia in November, representing 32 per cent of the total number of installations Australia-wide this month.
