Small-scale systems installed across Australia

This map shows the total number of small-scale renewable energy systems installed under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme in each state and territory, and the total kilowatt rated output for August 2017 and the national cumulative totals since 2001.

*Given the 12-month period for creating small-scale technology certificates, the number of certificates for monthly installations will continue to rise. The data which informs this month’s update is accurate as at 1 September 2017. For up to date figures, please refer to the postcode data for small-scale installations.

National trends and analysis

  • There were 8,017 small-scale systems installed nationally in August, with a total generation capacity of 40,317kW.
  • Installation rates for August are currently tracking higher than July, with 8,017 installed compared to 6,139 last month
  • Queensland continues to have the highest level of small-scale installations across Australia with 2,421 systems installed so far in August
  • Queensland had the highest number of commercial sized solar PV systems (10-100kW) installed in August, with 153 systems installed
  • There were 432 commercial sized solar PV systems (10 – 100kW) installed Australia-wide in August
  • There were 136 PV systems that had a concurrent battery storage installation in August

Each table below shows the breakdown of system types installed in each state and territory for August 2017, and the running total since the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme commenced in 2001.
