Small-scale systems installed across Australia

This map shows the total number of small-scale renewable energy systems installed under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme in each state and territory, and the total kilowatt rated output for April 2017 and the national cumulative totals since 2001.

*Given the 12-month period for creating small-scale technology certificates, the number of certificates for monthly installations will continue to rise. The data which informs this month’s update is accurate as at 1 May 2017. For up to date figures, please refer to the postcode data for small-scale installations.

National trends and analysis

  • There were 4,984 small-scale systems installed nationally in April, with a total generation capacity of 24,962kW
  • Installation rates for April are currently tracking lower than March, with 4,984 installed compared to 6,845 last month
  • Queensland continues to have the highest level of small-scale installations across Australia with 1,642 systems installed so far in April, 33% of the national total
  • Queensland had the highest number of commercial sized solar PV systems (10-100kW) installed in April, with 70 systems installed
  • There were 247 commercial sized solar PV systems (10-100kW) installed Australia-wide in April
  • Queensland had the largest small-scale PV system installed so far in April at 40kW
  • There were 70 PV systems that had a concurrent battery storage installation in April

Each table below shows the breakdown of system types installed in each state and territory for April 2017, and the running total since the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme commenced in 2001.
