The Emissions Reduction Fund has now purchased 193 million tonnes of abatement through 457 contracts.
The eighth Emissions Reduction Fund auction, held from 10–11 December has contributed more than 3.27 million tonnes of abatement to the overall total, with 34 carbon abatement contracts awarded for 36 projects.
The Clean Energy Regulator purchased carbon abatement at an average price of $13.87 per tonne, with a contracted value of $45 million.
A total of $2.3 billion has now been committed under the Emissions Reduction Fund, and more than $200 million remains available for future purchasing activities.
