On 23 August 2018, the Department of the Environment and Energy released proposed amendments to the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule 2015 for public consultation. In conjunction with this release, the Clean Energy Regulator has released technical guidance on stratification, evidence and records for projects under the Human-Induced Regeneration of a Permanent Even-Aged Native Forest and Native Forest from Managed Regrowth methods. This guidance is designed to clarify for project participants the expectations, process and technical procedures required to stratify project areas, particularly carbon estimation areas, and the evidence that must be reported.
During the consultation period, we will continue to assess project and Australian carbon credit unit applications in accordance with the method requirements, the draft operational policy, and interim posture.
For more information on the proposed amendments, including how to make a submission, please visit the Department of the Environment and Energy website, or email ERFforests@environment.gov.au. All submissions must be made by no later than 5pm (AEST) 13 September 2018.
If you would like to provide feedback on the technical guidance, please email CER-HIR-NFMR@cleanenergyregulator.gov.au by 5pm (AEST), 28 September 2018.
