The Clean Energy Regulator may vary, cancel, supplement, or replace ('change') Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) forms at any time. Please ensure you are using the latest version.

Step 2: Apply to participate in the CFI

To become a recognised offsets entity and open a registry account, you will need to complete the relevant ANREU form.

For body corporates

Complete the Application to open an ANREU account and/or become a registered offsets entity - Public and private companies. Please read the Guidance on completing ANREU and recognised offsets entity forms before completing this form. Both documents are available under applying as a non-individual on the ANREU forms page.

For all other entities

Complete the Application to open an ANREU account and/or become a registered offsets entity - Individuals. This document is available under applying as an individual on the ANREU forms page. Applicants may also open an account in the Australian National Registry of Emissions Units using this form and are not required to complete a separate form.

Step 3: Apply for approval of your CFI project

To apply for your project to be declared as an eligible offsets project, you will need to complete the following forms.

For emissions avoidance projects

For sequestration projects

Nominate a primary contact

To enable multiple project proponents of an offsets project to nominate one of the proponents as the nominee for the project complete the following form.

Seek consent for a sequestration activity (eligible interest holders)

If your project is a sequestration project that stores carbon in vegetation or soil, the project proponent must seek written consent from all persons with an interest in the area of land by submitting the following form.

Request for a project area not published

To apply for the project area associated with your offsets project to not be published on the Register of Offsets Projects on the Clean Energy Regulator website, you will need to complete the following form.
