Top tips for preparing for the ninth Emissions Reduction Fund auction

02 July 2019

If you are successful at the ninth Emissions Reduction Fund auction, you will automatically enter into a carbon abatement contract with the Clean Energy Regulator, and it is important that you understand what the contract entails before you bid.

Top tips to get prepared:

  • Familiarise yourself with the ninth auction guidelines and the code of common terms.
  • Consider your delivery terms and delivery schedule—you will need to determine when your project can deliver Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs), and the quantity of ACCUs to be delivered by those dates, taking into account whether you intend to allocate the full or partial quantities of expected ACCUs from your project. You should allow sufficient time for you to audit, report and receive units at the end of each reporting period. To help you establish a contract delivery schedule, the Clean Energy Regulator has developed an interactive delivery schedule calculator.

Registration for the ninth Emissions Reduction Fund auction, to be held on 24–25 July 2019, will close midnight, Tuesday 16 July 2019 (AEST). Auction registration is completed through the Client Portal.
