Portfolio and minister
During 2015–16 we operated within the Environment portfolio, reporting to the Minister for the Environment, the Hon Greg Hunt MP.2
Structure
The term 'Clean Energy Regulator' refers to both the Commonwealth entity and the public service agency:
- The Commonwealth entity, referred to as the Regulator, consists of the Chair and between two and four other Members. They are responsible for determining our strategic direction and policies, and are accountable for our regulatory decisions according to the legislation we administer. The Minister appoints the Members under the Clean Energy Regulator Act 2011.
- The public service agency is an independent statutory authority comprising the Chief Executive Officer and staff. Our agency supports the Regulator to perform its responsibilities. The Chair of the Regulator is also our agency's Chief Executive Officer and the Accountable Authority as defined by the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
